What Graphics Card does the Xbox One have?

Do you own a new Xbox One and wondering what graphics card does the Xbox one have inside?

Xbox One runs on AMD Graphics Core Next (GCN) GPU at 853 MHz (originally 800 MHz) with 12 CUs, 1.3 TFLOPS. In terms of graphics and performance, the AMD HD 7790 and GTX 750 have the closest match to the Xbox One.

Generally, people look for this query so they can build a PC that has similar specs and play games like the Xbox One. My recommendation, however, is to go with a GTX 1660 Ti or AMD RX 5600 XT because they are mid-range cards that provide good FPS on the latest games.

Now, let’s talk in detail so that you can know more about the GPU of Xbox One.

What is the Equivalent GPU for Xbox One?

The equivalent GPU to the Xbox One is the NVIDIA GTX 750 or AMD HD 7790.

However, it is important to remember that PC GPUs shouldn’t be compared with console GPUs.

Because they both are different when serving gaming performance. In comparison to PC, consoles are more optimized for games by developers.

As you know, the GPU built into a PC’s processor is an integrated GPU (built into the processor). So, the same goes for the console CPU with a GPU inside it.

It is called an APU (Accelerated Processing Unit) in computing. This serves as both a CPU and GPU, as seen on consoles since they do not possess enough space for a graphics card. Further, they do not come with many heat sinks because graphics cards generate substantial heat during gaming.

As for graphics cards, they will be comparable to those we use for computers. However, they are not necessarily as powerful as the latest PC graphic cards.

For example, integrated graphics cards on laptops differ from chips found on Xbox consoles.

Even though the same company manufactures these components, they are tailored specifically for that gaming console.

TFLOP Performance Comparison

The term teraflop (TFLOP) refers to the ability to accomplish one trillion floating point operations in one second.

Therefore, when Microsoft states that the Xbox One has 1.3 teraflops. This indicates that the console is capable of processing 1.3 trillion floating point operations per second. Having a high TFLOP count means being able to render more elements faster in a game.

On the other hand the Xbox one GPU equivalent, the Nvidia GTX 750 offers 1.4 Teraflops of performance, and the AMD HD 7790 delivers 1.7 Teraflops.

However, if you go as per my GPU recommendation, I mentioned GTX 1660 Ti and AMD RX 5600 XT.

In terms of performance and throughput, the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti delivers up to 5.4 TFLOPS of FP32 performance and 10 TFLOPS of FP16 performance, while the RX 5600 XT delivers up to 7.188 TFLOPS of FP32 performance and 14.38 TFLOPS of FP16 performance.

It is clear that these graphics cards outperform the Xbox One GPU in terms of performance. Keep in mind, though, that consoles are developed and optimized differently.

Are PCs more graphically powerful than consoles?

There is no direct comparison between PCs and consoles when it comes to graphics. This is because gaming PCs come in several different configurations, ranging from low-end to high-end.

That’s why PCs are still my preferred choice for graphics, despite the fact that they cost a bit more than other consoles.

As compared to other consoles, PCs have superior hardware and are more customizable. Additionally, video game console (VGC) manufacturers are restricted in their design choices. Their consoles need to take into account certain factors, including materials costs which is why they don’t include a powerful GPU.

Hence, PCs are more powerful compared to consoles when it comes to gaming, but they also come at a higher price. A gaming console is a good alternative to a high-end PC if you don’t want to invest in one.

Conclusion

Hopefully, you got a clear answer to the question of what GPU does the Xbox One have.

Furthermore, you have seen the FPS comparison, which illustrates how powerful cards like the GTX 1660 Ti and RX 5600 XT really are. High settings are no problem with these cards, so you can easily play AAA title games.
